The Hardest Part
The St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital commercial had a child saying, “The hardest part of having cancer is knowing you have it”.
In some ways, that’s the hardest part of everything: “Knowing”. Knowing things you wish you didn’t. Knowing things you could do to make a difference in your life and others. Knowing what is right to do, but not doing it. Knowing that what you don’t know is much greater than what you do.
On the other hand, is it easier for those who “don’t know”? In the psychiatric field, the simplest minds live longer. There is nothing to concern them. Stress is supposed to be the greatest threat to our health. How stressed can you be if you don’t know. They say 99% of what you worry about never happens. It’s such a waste of good energy.
Worry is the antithesis to faith. If you have faith, even what you might “know” in the natural is superceded with faith.
“Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
If you know this, what else do you need to know? The hardest part is done.
