Real world
Welcome to the real world. How does that song go?
Today, I was driving my mother around at the beach and she told me that I was “not like my sister” ( who I am like ) and that I was “just like my brother” ( who I am not like). After I pondered this in total confusion, the song lyric “welcome to the real world” popped in my mind. I didn’t remember who sang it or what the title was. Here we go!
I’d like to think the best of me is still hiding up my sleeve…..some things better on the other side……I just found out there is no such thing as the real world. Just a lie that you have to rise above. They love to tell you stay inside the lines. I am invincible as long as I am alive.
My mother said the reason she thought we were alike is “both of you don’t listen to anyone and like to tell other people what to do”. Really? When I asked my daughter if she concurred, she laughed out loud and said, “well, at least you get more done than he does- that’s a sure difference”! I shook my head and sighed.
Have you ever wondered if anyone really knows you? I guess they can’t or don’t. Mom wondered aloud, “How can children grow up in the same household and be so different?” That’s a good question. We are all unique, so I can’t be “just like” anyone! Exactly- no such thing!!
