Get the Gimmies is the 24th episode of season 1 in The Berenstain Bears, which first aired on February 7, 2003. In this episode, Brother and Sister get the gimmies and the case worsens. Then they learn that being selfish and greedy isn’t the way of life.
There are good lessons in all their books. My personal favorite is the Spooky Old Tree
where they get to the good part of the book which says, ” one with the light, one with a stick and one with the shivers!!” You have to read it to understand. The thing to consider is we all have the “Give Mes” and we are all venturing into unknown territory.
Sometimes God gives us what we ask for to show us that it’s not really what we want. You don’t know what you have until you don’t have it anymore. You don’t know if you really want something until you have it. How quickly we are dissatisfied.
God will give you what He knows you can handle. If you are making yourself miserable wanting something, stop and ask Him to give you what He has for you.
In the Prodigal Son story, he got what he asked for and before long, he realized it was not satisfying him like he thought it would.
It’s a bad thing when we become ungrateful for the things we have. The prodigal son “came to himself” in a wake up call. He realized where he was and decided to go home and ask his father to forgive him. Not only did he forgive him, but he ran out to meet him. There are 2nd chances, 3rd and 4th chances- as long as there is life, there is hope.
Focus more on what you can do for other people ( we are God’s hands and feet on this earth), than on yourself.
