Waiting

Deep in our hearts, we know where we feel the happiest. There is a book about the “Architecture of Happiness”. I think we could write more about the “environment of happiness”- the places and things that are part of our happiest memories.  I think it’s a part of our nature that is unconscious. I recently looked through some old photos with a friend.  I was struck how the 100 year old black and white photos stored in an album given to him by his mother could somehow align with the story of his life. His grandmother was smiling in photos that included boats and beaches, dogs and travel. The clothes might have changed, but the “places” and “things” were the same. It answered so many questions about why he had his first boat at age 5 and why he had continued to be among the same settings all his life. This “likeness” to our older family members may be passed along in the DNA.

I keep trying to decide where I want to be. I am satisfied for the most part, but every time I think about a nice cozy home in a warm place by the water, I start searching the internet to find it. Perhaps, I already am as close as I will ever get to it.

Let me be thankful and focus my energy on enjoying old photo albums with friends, sitting on the dock when the weather warms up, watching over my oyster garden, seeing the geese and ducks fly by, and traveling to see family at the water!!
Right before your breakthrough, you will feel like giving up.  Let me wait expectantly and be ready to move when I see it!
